Valentine's Day is Not Just for Kids and Lovers

Since the 1840’s Valentine’s Day has been celebrated by lovers across the world. On this day, through heart shaped candies or sparkly items, couples go out of their way to declare their love for each other. I think we can all agree that Valentine’s Day has become this extremely over marketed phenomenon pressuring men across the world to make “the big gesture”. Of course it’s silly to think that all of one’s love MUST be expressed only one day out of the year, which certainly does not make for a healthy relationship. But whether expressed or not, the truth is at the end of the day every girl wants to feel important and not forgotten.

When was the last time you thought of your business like the love of your life? We are all human. We all want to feel loved, special and appreciated by another. May I submit to you that since your clients and co-workers are human, maybe they fall into the same category? When was the last time you “made the big gesture” to show how much you appreciate them? As silly of a holiday as Valentine’s Day is, I use it as a reminder to show the ones around me how much I truly appreciate them in my life.

Let me lead by example.

I work as a marketing specialist at a lead generation company called LeadRival. Side note: (queue shameless plug) If you’re an attorney needing quality leads you should look into online lead generation, I have linked the name for more info. Moving on, this is truly the best group of people I have ever worked with in my life. It is very much a team atmosphere where I feel freedom to be creative, ask questions and learn from others. We work together on projects and ideas regardless of what department you may be in; there is always room for opinions because we are all working towards the same goal. Each person I work with Kye, Mitch, Brandie, JD, Lindsey, Aaron, Brian, Tom and Sherry… they all attribute to any success I may have in my job and I truly appreciate what they bring to the table every day.

What do you Love about your business?
It’s time we shift our minds from what is for us to what we can give. Valentine’s Day does not have to be ONLY about lovers. Use this as an opportunity to tell the world what you love about your business, your clients and your employees or co-workers. Valentine’s Day cards are not just for kids, it can be your opportunity to “make the big gesture” and show your clients a little appreciation while also sharing what it is you love about your own business and team.

Get Creative:
The next time a silly holiday comes along, don't just brush it off.  Clients are people, and people crave connection. Make a video, send a card or simply pick up the phone and tell them yourself.  Use silly holidays as an opportunity to let your clients know you are not just a product or service but a person that really cares.
